A tenuous structure houses collective curiosity. Part communally constructed jungle gym, part adult ball pit, Replay: constructing and deconstructing nostalgia (2018) is an intimate performance danced by Kait Ramsden and limited to an audience of five participants. A room is filled with dodgeballs, jump rope, gridded lines, and a body who is steadily discovering new parameters of play. Simple architectural choreographies and frenzied energetic bursts of movement evoke the schoolyard. Games are patched together with ropes and string. As the playing field changes gestures are repeated and adapted. Choreography is used to index the rules of the game. Togetherness blurs with competition within the temporary landscape.
